Talent is only the beginning. Progress needs access, coaching and time.
The Foundation supports young surfers and paddlers with safe training, equipment access, mentorship, competition exposure and practical help that keeps development moving beyond the first session.
Progress is built in stages.
Each stage adds the access, consistency and support an athlete needs to keep developing over time.
-
Introduction
Enter the ocean safely.
Safe ocean access, water confidence and basic surfing or paddling skills.
-
Regular Training
Turn access into consistency.
Regular sessions build fitness, technique, ocean understanding and safer training habits.
-
Skill Development
Make progression visible.
Structured coaching, feedback and progression tracking help each athlete understand what to improve next.
-
Competition Support
Prepare for the next level.
When appropriate, support can include preparation, event entry, travel and meaningful competition exposure.
-
Long-Term Opportunity
Build a route beyond competition.
The pathway can continue through roles as an athlete, instructor, coach, lifesaver, mentor or community leader.
Support should remove a real barrier to progress.
Athlete support can be directed to a defined training, equipment, competition or development need rather than a broad, unspecified contribution.
- The athlete or defined purpose
- The amount or in-kind requirement
- The status and relevant dates
- The follow-up report or support update
