Our Athletes

Here, we introduce the talented group of young surf athletes trained by the Surfing Swami Foundation. These kids, who once didn’t even know how to swim, have become skilled surfers who are now helping others learn the sport. With the foundation’s support, they have access to equipment, funding for surf trips, and education. They have already competed in national surf events, and their sights are set on representing India in international competitions.

Selvam

The eldest among the whole bunch and a role model for all the other kids. He had been selected as the “Grom of the Year’ in 2019, for inspiring other kids and pursuing the sport with perseverance.

Subhramani

An enthusiastic surfer and an instructor in the making. Always keeps a smiling face and helps everyone around him.

Raju

Raju has developed a deep passion for surfing, despite only having started a few years ago. His love for the sport is unwavering, as he spends most of his time either surfing or watching surf videos.

Pradeep

Similar to his brother Raju, this individual dedicates the majority of his time to surfing, watching surf videos, skateboarding, and teaching other children how to surf.

Akash

Despite not knowing how to swim when he first started, Akash has developed a great love for surfing and fearlessly takes on strong waves with ease.

Hanumantha

Hanumantha shares a similar passion for surfing as his brother Akash and is not deterred by the challenges of riding strong waves. He also enjoys skateboarding and has a strong desire to learn everything there is to know about surfing.

Brithi

Having been an avid surfer for several years, Brithi has successfully competed in numerous national surfing competitions, earning several accolades in the grom category.

Saanvi

Despite her busy academic schedule, Saanvi prioritizes her love for surfing by making time for it. With several years of surfing experience under her belt, she has also achieved success in multiple grom competitions.

Chirali

Chirali’s demeanor may be reserved and introverted on land, but once she hits the water, she transforms into a different person entirely. With her surfing skills and carefree attitude, she ensures that every session is filled with joy and happiness.

Praveen

Although he is still transitioning to hardboard, Praveen’s surfing skills are evident even on softtops. As the youngest of the group, we are closely monitoring his progress and are confident that he will become a skilled shredder in no time.
